Daylight Fading Photography

Hi, I'm Rachel! When I started my photography business in 2010, I never imagined how much joy I would find in creating art with my camera. My love and business grew, and I established Daylight Fading Photography in 2014. I currently reside in Haughton, Louisiana with my funny little family, and I'm fortunate to be able to take photos all over the South. I LOVE to travel - take me with yoouuu! I've been interested in photography since I was old enough to hold a camera. As a kid, I saved all my allowance money to develop the photos from my leopard-print film camera. Fortunately I've updated my equipment a bit, but I've never lost the excitement I feel when my finger clicks the shutter. I love building relationships with my clients, and I am blessed that most of them have become life-long friends. A few years into my photography business, I discovered that I really love weddings. I love the raw emotion, the unexpected laughs, and the gorgeous details. Even after dozens of weddings, I never get tired of seeing the groom put on his tie with shaking hands, the smiles on the grandparents' faces when the bride walks down the aisle, or the ring bearer collapsing into a meltdown halfway to the stage. Even though it sounds cliche, every wedding is truly beautiful to me, and I love to preserve every detail for my clients. I hope that when you look at your album years from now, my photos help you remember each precious moment. In addition to my photography business, I'm a commercial insurance underwriter and student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe working on my BBA. I take hours of continuing education every week to continually study new photography and processing techniques. As well as having formal education in business, I'm currently attending Susan Stripling's Wedding School to further refine my artwork. I've taken classes on natural lighting, portrait lighting, advanced off-camera lighting, posing, and effective post-processing. I've also intensively studied wedding, engagement, family, and senior photography methods. In my free time (ha!), you can find me rescuing dogs, playing Hill Climb, or cuddling with my family (see below).
